Since 1940, at Bodegas Mamerto de la Vara we have specialised in producing vermouths, fortified wines, liqueur wines, muscats, mistelle and other sweet wines, products deeply linked to our history, wine-making tradition and a leisurely way of appreciating wine. These wines are designed for conscious enjoyment: to be savoured without haste, shared and enjoyed as part of special moments.
This understanding of wine—as culture, pleasure and responsibility—has guided our work for generations. That is why today we are taking another step forward on this path and joining the European Wine in Moderation (WiM) programme, an initiative that promotes responsible and moderate wine consumption throughout Europe.
Wine in Moderation was founded over a decade ago with the aim of raising consumer awareness about the importance of enjoying wine in moderation. The initiative provides clear and accurate information on responsible drinking habits and works with wineries, distributors and hospitality establishments to promote a culture of balanced and conscious consumption.
Our membership of this network enables us to reinforce and apply these best practices at every stage of our business. From communicating about our wines to training our team, we work to ensure that the message of responsible consumption is conveyed clearly and consistently to all our customers.
In this way, we take care not only of the quality of our wines, but also of the health and well-being of those who enjoy them, promoting conscious consumption that values both the product and the experience surrounding it.
Our commitment to Wine in Moderation reflects a philosophy that is essential to us: enjoying wine is a pleasure that is maximised when done consciously. Sharing a vermouth with friends, finishing a meal with a sweet wine or celebrating special moments should not involve health risks, but rather enrich the experience and reinforce wine culture.
By joining Wine in Moderation, we are taking another step forward in our goal of combining tradition, quality and responsibility. We would like to invite all our customers to join us in this approach: to enjoy every sip in moderation, to appreciate the work that goes into each wine and, above all, to recognise that the best way to enjoy wine is to do so in moderation.
